Dan Quinn and the Atlanta Falcons will use this draft to add depth at key positions, but may also add new starters depending on their training camp and preseason performances. If you remember my article, "What will the Falcons do at #26?" I presented some positions of need they should be considering to add to their roster and defensive tackle should be one them. Well B.J. Hill could be a steal if he's there on end of Day 2, or start of Day 3.
Hill had a great career at N.C. State and it carried over into the combine where he impressed scouts in workouts (4.9 40 yard dash, 35 reps, 7.28 Cone drill). He's athletic and that's something the Falcons love in their defenders even on the defensive line. Hill might actually be what they're looking for at 6'3 325, he tough against the run and knows how to fill a gap, tough to move.
He could seriously contend for playing time alongside Grady Jarrett who has no running mate at this moment. They have to replace Dontari Poe on the line with a younger body or a veteran that can split snaps. Hill is younger, agiler and could help towards a cap ($4 million) that's going to get much tighter after the draft.
Atlanta needs bodies inside the trenches and Hill may be one of the gems in this draft. They may look at other prospects at this position but this kid is definitely going to give them a run for their money. One quick note also Grady Jarrett was a 5th round pick (137th overall) in 2015 and I think he can have this kind of impact.
