Dennis Schroder's future in Atlanta has been in question for a couple of years now, but his upcoming meeting with team executive's will give us the answers to those questions on the 24-year-old's stance with the team.
He addressed the media at a press conference while in Germany at the German Basketball Federation. According to International basketball reporter David Hein, Schroder says he could "invision" himself playing with "Friends on other teams." Schroder also said, "Indiana wouldn't be too bad", "Milwaukee wouldn't be too bad." "Those are two teams where you can say that the organization is going in the right direction." Schroder added.
Schroder has 3 years and $46 million dollars left on his current deal, and his trade value is still as high as it was when the team put him on the trade block a couple of seasons ago. He played well last season even though the Hawks finished with the third worse record in the NBA. Schroder averaged 19.4 points and 6.2 assists as he was the main focal point on the team.
Dennis found trouble in the locker and off the court, which could also give the Hawks a reason to move on from the disgruntled point guard. He was rumored to be part of the reason why Dwight Howard was moved to Charlotte because of ongoing locker room friction between the former teammates. He was charged with misdemeanor battery in connection with a fight at an Atlanta shopping center.
Not to burst Dennis' bubble but both Milwaukee and Indiana have their point guards signed through next season (Bucks: Bledsoe $15 million, Pacers: Collision $10 million). If he's to end up either of those places there would have to be a major deal in place.
Teams like Philadelphia, LA Clippers or Dallas could still be in the market for a starter, so keep your eyes open and stay tuned to this story!

It's not his fault Atlanta has not been to the NBA Finals, at least they weren't as much of a disappointment as the Atlanta Falcons blowing a 28-3 lead against the Patriots in Super Bowl 51. I loved how Schroeder grew in this league, backing up at the time, one of the league's best point guards in Jeff Teague and playing with Al Horford, Demare Carroll, a young Kent Bazemore, and Kyle Korver. For the first time, he is experiencing missing the playoffs, but as a city born Atlanta Hawks fan, I don't want him to leave, unless if the team is trading him for a SUPERSTAR that is BOX OFFICE because that is what Atlanta needs... By the way, you do have legitimate points, but I just can't see him gone. This is an interesting blog. I'll think about coming back and commenting on it, after-all, making a blog takes work, and every legit blog maker should get the credit they deserve, so I salute to you. #StayTrueToAtlanta... Fly Hawks Fly!!!
ReplyDeleteHe has reached his ceiling and I think they should trade him while he still has value. He's a coach Bud guy anyway
