Todd Gurley's run on the record books

Article by Antwon "Smitty" Smith

Todd Gurley is a man on a mission and his stats are showing the rest of the NFL why he's the top running back in the league right now.

Gurley has 14 touchdowns through 7 games so far this season (11 rushing, 3 receiving) which tied an NFL record set by former Chiefs running back Priest Holmes. He accomplished the feat twice in 2002 and 2004.

Priest Holmes ran for an astounding 62 touchdowns
In a three season span from 2002-2004

He will be chasing Ladainian Tomlinson's NFL record of 31 (28 rushing, 3 receiving) set back in 2006. Tomlinson would go on to win NFL MVP that season and break Shaun Alexander's record set the season before in 2005 (Also won MVP) . Gurley is also trying to become to 10th running back in history to score 20+ in a single season. Two running backs have accomplished the feast twice, Priest Holmes and Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith.

The Rams are off to an explosive 7-0 start and they are aiming for their first Super Bowl birth since 2001. Gurley is on pace for a new mark of 32 touchdowns this season. He will also be in discussion for MVP with names such as Patrick Mahomes, Khalil Mack, Aaron Rodgers and even his teammate Jared Goff. All are having a remarkable season but history seems to be on Gurley's side.

Gurley will easily set a new career high for rushing
touchdowns, breaking his mark of 13
set in 2017

Todd Gurley is a touchdown machine and only gets stronger as the season goes on, so his run for the record books seems to be right in line with some of the greats. Only factor that stands in his way, Week 17. If they run away with the NFC West, Gurley would likely have to break the record in 15 games because he would most likely be resting up for the playoffs at that point.

One thing sure he continue his run as one of the top fantasy players in the NFL, as long as he's on the field healthy and ready to roll!

The Falcons drafting a running back could be a smart move

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in running back prospects to interview and work out for the upcoming NFL draft starting with Georgia running back Nick Chubb. It's something I definitely agree  with as a fan and an analyst.

Smitty's Top 10 NBA players heading into the 2018-2019 season

The NBA has some of the best athletes in sports but when it comes to playing basketball, some players stand out and know how to take their game to another level. Here are my top 10 players that can do just that, play at another level.  1. LeBron James SF Los Angeles Lakers  2017-2018 Stats: 27.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 9.1 apg   The king lived up to his name this season as he carried the Cavs to a 4th straight finals appearance. He played in all 82 games (first time in his career) and endured a trade, so he's still #1. 2. Kevin Durant SF Golden State Warriors 2017-2018 Stats:  26.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.4 apg  The now 2-time NBA champion and Finals MVP also put on a show this past season as he excelled on the defensive side of the ball, something he isn't known for throughout his career.  3. Anthony Davis C New Orleans Pelicans 2017-2018 Stats: 28.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2.3 apg  This young stud is only getting better with time, he lost his running
