Josh Gordon nearing the "Point of no return"

Article by Antwon "Smitty" Smith

The Cleveland Browns and Josh Gordon with finally part ways after a turbulent 6 year relationship and at this point Gordon's career may be close to being done. Cleveland plans to release Gordon come Monday morning if they cannot find a trade partner.

Gordon broke the teams "trust" for the last time as he reported late to the facility with a hamstring injury. Chris Mortensen of ESPN said their were other "factors" in the decision, inclusive of "current and past incidents".

Gordon has been dealing with substance abuse since his days at Baylor University, which caused him to miss the NFL draft. He would later be taken by the Browns in the supplemental draft in 2012.

Gordon became the 1st receiver in NFL history in 2013 to have
back to back games over 200 receiving yards

His substance abuse demons have followed him and he has not been able shake them yet. Gordon was named to the pro bowl in his second season after leading the NFL with 1,646 and 87 receptions, an 18.9 yard clip. He would also go on to grab 9 touchdown catches that season. Since then he has only appeared in a total of 11 games.

Gordon has also been suspend multiple times since 2013, including a full season in 2015. His troubles continued up until the Browns made their decision on Saturday.

Gordon 27, hopes to continue his career and break away from the demons that have haunted him. He has to change his circle if he wants to do so. Josh Gordon is still in great shape physically,  but mentally he's "tethering" to the "point of no return". I say that with hope that it doesn't follow him the rest of his life. NFL teams will monitor him around the clock and probably give him a non-guaranteed contract until he proves that he can stay on a straight path.

Gordon posted on Instagram to thank the Browns and their fans:

Smitty's Top 10 NBA players heading into the 2018-2019 season

The NBA has some of the best athletes in sports but when it comes to playing basketball, some players stand out and know how to take their game to another level. Here are my top 10 players that can do just that, play at another level.  1. LeBron James SF Los Angeles Lakers  2017-2018 Stats: 27.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 9.1 apg   The king lived up to his name this season as he carried the Cavs to a 4th straight finals appearance. He played in all 82 games (first time in his career) and endured a trade, so he's still #1. 2. Kevin Durant SF Golden State Warriors 2017-2018 Stats:  26.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.4 apg  The now 2-time NBA champion and Finals MVP also put on a show this past season as he excelled on the defensive side of the ball, something he isn't known for throughout his career.  3. Anthony Davis C New Orleans Pelicans 2017-2018 Stats: 28.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2.3 apg  This young stud is only getting better with time, he lost his running

The Falcons drafting a running back could be a smart move

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in running back prospects to interview and work out for the upcoming NFL draft starting with Georgia running back Nick Chubb. It's something I definitely agree  with as a fan and an analyst.
