The Return of Adrian Peterson

My fellow Aries brother Adrian Peterson has signed with the Washington Redskins.

Their backfield was pretty thin, and the organization back was against the wall. I think out of all the free agent running backs out there, they sign the best option.

He is 33 years old, but in my opinion he still plenty to offer. He missed the 2014 and 2016 season “BASICALLY”, and showed flashes of brilliance in his stint in Arizona.
I know his yards-per-carry won't really scream at you, but you have to understand it was the Arizona Cardinals that he was running for. We know the history of running backs for this organization, and it is not exactly stellar.

Outside of David Johnson, Chris Johnson Edgerrin James and Emmitt Smith all average under
4 yards per carry during their tenure as Cardinals. And, yes, they were near the tail of their careers, the furthest along being Smith, but managed to put up decent numbers for a team not known for being the best for running backs.

I'm excited that he gets an opportunity to show that he can still play in this league. I hope that fans understand as I do, that he's not going to be a 1,000 yard rusher this year. I can see a solid 500 coming from him, as the 2nd option on the team, and I can see him possibly starting three games this season because of potential injuries [not wishing this one them] to Rob Kelly or Chris Thompson.

I'll end it with this, don't sleep on Adrian Peterson. You’ve seen the numbers that he's put up in the past, and I'm confident that he can put up solid numbers this season and showed flashes of brilliance. He is clearly a Hall of Famer. There shouldn't be any questions on that. Look at his numbers right now.
12,000 plus rushing yards

The Falcons drafting a running back could be a smart move

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in running back prospects to interview and work out for the upcoming NFL draft starting with Georgia running back Nick Chubb. It's something I definitely agree  with as a fan and an analyst.

What will the Atlanta Falcons do at #26?

The Atlanta Falcons are two years post-Super Bowl appearance and they still have a nice window to return there. They have some holes to fill on both sides of the ball, whether it's to find a starter or to add depth at key positions. I think they could use the #26 pick in the first round of the draft to add depth at defensive tackle, right guard, tight end or free safety. Grady Jarrett needs a big body on the other side of him, with Dontari Poe hitting free agency Atlanta has to get a space eater/gap filler that helps in the run game. Austin Hooper has been a good addition to the Falcons offense, but still needs to grow and Atlanta needs reliable hands in the red zone. Wes Schweitzer has not been consistent and has seen some bad snaps that could land him as a role player. This could be the position the Falcons could use the 26th pick but that still remains to be seen. The Falcons need depth at the safety with the team releasing Ishmael and R...

Smitty's Top 10 NBA players heading into the 2018-2019 season

The NBA has some of the best athletes in sports but when it comes to playing basketball, some players stand out and know how to take their game to another level. Here are my top 10 players that can do just that, play at another level.  1. LeBron James SF Los Angeles Lakers  2017-2018 Stats: 27.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 9.1 apg   The king lived up to his name this season as he carried the Cavs to a 4th straight finals appearance. He played in all 82 games (first time in his career) and endured a trade, so he's still #1. 2. Kevin Durant SF Golden State Warriors 2017-2018 Stats:  26.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.4 apg  The now 2-time NBA champion and Finals MVP also put on a show this past season as he excelled on the defensive side of the ball, something he isn't known for throughout his career.  3. Anthony Davis C New Orleans Pelicans 2017-2018 Stats: 28.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2.3 apg  This young stud is only getting better with ...
