Kawhi Leonard still wants out of San Antonio

San Antonio All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard reportedly wants out of San Antonio, league sources says, so the trade market is about to light up and look for LeBron James and Magic Johnson to hit the phones.

The former defensive player of the year has been disgruntled with the Spurs organization all season, especially after he says the team "turned their back" on him. Leonard has said he's felt " betrayed after seeking a second opinion on his quadriceps injury which caused him to play only 9 games last season.

There were reports that the Boston Celtics offered the Spurs a deal at the trade deadline, but it was turn down after no counter offer from San Antonio.

Kawhi Leonard's camp and Spurs front office has still been on talking terms since the season ended and Leonard has kept in contact with coach Greg Popovich, league sources report. He even attended the funeral of the late wife of coach Popovich who passed away a couple of months ago.

Leonard is under contract through the 2019-2020 season and owed a total of $41.4 million by the team. The last year is a player option and Leonard has reportedly said he will opt out of his deal.

Before an injury filled season in 2017-2018, Leonard put on MVP performance putting up 25.5 points and 5.8 rebounds. He also won NBA Finals MVP in 2014 leading the Spurs past a LeBron James led Miami Heat team.

Leonard, 26, was drafted by the Spurs back in 2011 with the 15th pick, since entering the NBA he's been known as one of the best two-way players in the game.
