D'Andre Swift could be the next phenom at Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs have been known for grooming prized elite running back talent in their storied program, and Sophomore D'Andre Swift may be the next to take the country by storm.  There have been backs such as Herschel Walker, Rodney Hampton and Todd Gurley that have ran through the hedges and D'Andre Swift gave you a brief insight into his bright future last season of what's to come from the Philadelphia native. The former high school All-American is poised and confident to be a leader next season.

Swift a 215-lb blend between power and speed that can hurt a defense in more ways than one. He was a third option in a stable of running backs led by Chubb and Michel at UGA in 2017, but now he aims to be the guy that carries Georgia to the next level.

The Sophomore carried the ball only 81 times for 618 yards and 3 scores but some of those runs were at key points in big games for the Bulldogs. Swift blew by the Missouri defense for a 71-yard TD that came at a crucial point in the game and he also broke a 64-yard touchdown in the SEC championship that put the game out of reach for Georgia. He also is a threat out the backfield receiving as he caught 17 passes (3 catches 84 yards vs Florida) for 153 yards. His ability of being a dual threat is a plus for Georgia and with incoming talent, Swift has a lot of leverage to succeed.

Look for the this kid to be on the some Heisman watch lists this season as he will try to become the next running back to make an imprint between the hedges.

The Falcons drafting a running back could be a smart move

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in running back prospects to interview and work out for the upcoming NFL draft starting with Georgia running back Nick Chubb. It's something I definitely agree  with as a fan and an analyst.

What will the Atlanta Falcons do at #26?

The Atlanta Falcons are two years post-Super Bowl appearance and they still have a nice window to return there. They have some holes to fill on both sides of the ball, whether it's to find a starter or to add depth at key positions. I think they could use the #26 pick in the first round of the draft to add depth at defensive tackle, right guard, tight end or free safety. Grady Jarrett needs a big body on the other side of him, with Dontari Poe hitting free agency Atlanta has to get a space eater/gap filler that helps in the run game. Austin Hooper has been a good addition to the Falcons offense, but still needs to grow and Atlanta needs reliable hands in the red zone. Wes Schweitzer has not been consistent and has seen some bad snaps that could land him as a role player. This could be the position the Falcons could use the 26th pick but that still remains to be seen. The Falcons need depth at the safety with the team releasing Ishmael and R...

Smitty's Top 10 NBA players heading into the 2018-2019 season

The NBA has some of the best athletes in sports but when it comes to playing basketball, some players stand out and know how to take their game to another level. Here are my top 10 players that can do just that, play at another level.  1. LeBron James SF Los Angeles Lakers  2017-2018 Stats: 27.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 9.1 apg   The king lived up to his name this season as he carried the Cavs to a 4th straight finals appearance. He played in all 82 games (first time in his career) and endured a trade, so he's still #1. 2. Kevin Durant SF Golden State Warriors 2017-2018 Stats:  26.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.4 apg  The now 2-time NBA champion and Finals MVP also put on a show this past season as he excelled on the defensive side of the ball, something he isn't known for throughout his career.  3. Anthony Davis C New Orleans Pelicans 2017-2018 Stats: 28.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2.3 apg  This young stud is only getting better with ...
