What's next for Carmelo Anthony and OKC?

Carmelo Anthony has been one of the more polarizing athletes during his 15-year career and one of the most confusing.

He rose to fame by becoming a national champion at Syracuse in his one and only season there, to being labeled as an underachiever because of his lack  of success in the playoffs during his playing career.

Carmelo Anthony is now on the clock in OKC and even though he may play there next season, Anthony may want to tone down his criticism of his team after they were eliminated by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs.

He stated that:

"I think the player that they wanted me to be and needed me to be was for the sake of this season,"

"Everything was just thrown together and it wasn't anything that was planned out. Wasn't no strategy to me being here, me being a part of the actual system and what type of player and things like that."

Which in so many words means, "I wasted my time", can become a deciding factor in whether he returns next season. Anthony also said "It's out of the question" that he will be coming off the bench in the future, which also may be a conflict going forward.

He has a legit argument to a certain degree, but when you can't score 30 points in a single game all season, your role will likely be off the bench. When you are put on the floor to score points and can't do it consistently then it's very hard to defend your point of view.

Anthony averaged a career low 16.2 points this past NBA season (career average 24.1) and only 11.8 during the playoffs. He shot only 37 percent from the field (21% from 3-point range) and not having ANY effect in the 4th quarter after game 1.

Through it all, Carmelo has 27 million reasons to settle his thoughts and talk behind closed to his teammates or management because if he's not in Oklahoma City next year that number will drop significantly in another city.

Smitty's Top 10 NBA players heading into the 2018-2019 season

The NBA has some of the best athletes in sports but when it comes to playing basketball, some players stand out and know how to take their game to another level. Here are my top 10 players that can do just that, play at another level.  1. LeBron James SF Los Angeles Lakers  2017-2018 Stats: 27.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 9.1 apg   The king lived up to his name this season as he carried the Cavs to a 4th straight finals appearance. He played in all 82 games (first time in his career) and endured a trade, so he's still #1. 2. Kevin Durant SF Golden State Warriors 2017-2018 Stats:  26.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.4 apg  The now 2-time NBA champion and Finals MVP also put on a show this past season as he excelled on the defensive side of the ball, something he isn't known for throughout his career.  3. Anthony Davis C New Orleans Pelicans 2017-2018 Stats: 28.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2.3 apg  This young stud is only getting better with time, he lost his running

The Falcons drafting a running back could be a smart move

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in running back prospects to interview and work out for the upcoming NFL draft starting with Georgia running back Nick Chubb. It's something I definitely agree  with as a fan and an analyst.
