Braves off to a fast start in the NL East thanks to youth movement

We are one month into the major league baseball season and the young Atlanta Braves are off to a blazing start as they sit atop the National League East with a 24-15 record.

It's early in the season but the Braves are getting it done with power, timely hitting, and pitching.
The youth movement around the all-star vets Julio Tehran, Ender Inciarte and Freddie Freeman has Atlanta looking towards a promising future. The same formula that started their 15-year playoff run from the early 90's to the mid-2000's.

Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuna Jr. at the top of the Braves lineup give them the power and speed to set up Freddie Freeman (22 RBI's) in the middle of the lineup, which produces runs (Braves lead MLB with .273 average) at an alarming rate (3rd in MLB). Kurt Suzuki and Ender Inciarte are bringing up the rear giving Atlanta production at the bottom of the lineup.

Atlanta has a consistent bat in every part of the lineup which is giving other teams fits and their pitching is backing them 100%. Teheran is getting help from Mike Foltynewicz, Brandon McCarthy but newcomers Sean Newcomb (2-0) and Michael Soroka (1-0) give the Braves nice young nucleus in their rotation. Suzuki is calling great games behind the plate, giving pitchers more chances get ahead of batters and use their strikeout pitch more effectively.

The Braves bullpen is still a work in progress but if their starters can go at least 6 innings and their bats can keep them out in from it could be the turnaround Atlanta fans have been waiting for quite a while.

Smitty's Top 10 NBA players heading into the 2018-2019 season

The NBA has some of the best athletes in sports but when it comes to playing basketball, some players stand out and know how to take their game to another level. Here are my top 10 players that can do just that, play at another level.  1. LeBron James SF Los Angeles Lakers  2017-2018 Stats: 27.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 9.1 apg   The king lived up to his name this season as he carried the Cavs to a 4th straight finals appearance. He played in all 82 games (first time in his career) and endured a trade, so he's still #1. 2. Kevin Durant SF Golden State Warriors 2017-2018 Stats:  26.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.4 apg  The now 2-time NBA champion and Finals MVP also put on a show this past season as he excelled on the defensive side of the ball, something he isn't known for throughout his career.  3. Anthony Davis C New Orleans Pelicans 2017-2018 Stats: 28.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2.3 apg  This young stud is only getting better with time, he lost his running

The Falcons drafting a running back could be a smart move

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in running back prospects to interview and work out for the upcoming NFL draft starting with Georgia running back Nick Chubb. It's something I definitely agree  with as a fan and an analyst.
