Why Johnathan Hankins could be a HUGE signing for Atlanta

The Falcons are in need of help on the defensive line and there could be a short-term solution that's on the market. Former 2nd round pick of the Giants back in 2013, has been a solid run stopper and a cap friendly player during his 5-year career.

Hankins cap hit will not be a major blow if he gets an incentive laced deal. His base salary last season with the Colts was $3 million but his roster bonus was $7.5 million of a 3-year deal worth $27 million dollars.

The Falcons don't have a ton of cap space but I think they could sign him for around $3-$4 million a year and backload his deal. Hankins could be a big body the Falcons need in the middle of their line after losing Dontari Poe to the Panthers. His massive frame could draw a double team and give Grady Jarrett more room to roam. He is a traditional 3-4 nose tackle/end, but the Falcons could use him as a defensive tackle, just as the Giants did when they took him out of Ohio State.

Grady Jarrett is going into the final year of his deal and this could help him earn a bigger deal if he performs well (Even though the 3 Super Bowl sacks didn't do it). Hankins could also help the linebackers and safeties roam free in the run game. Atlanta lost a step in the pass rush and it was due to their lack of push up the middle after they lost Rashede Hageman and Jonathan Babineaux.

Atlanta would have to make a move soon because there are some teams that need help at tackle and could offer him a better deal. He could also help the Falcons build depth at key positions in the draft, starting in the 1st round.

The Falcons drafting a running back could be a smart move

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in running back prospects to interview and work out for the upcoming NFL draft starting with Georgia running back Nick Chubb. It's something I definitely agree  with as a fan and an analyst.

Here are my top 10 players that can do just that, play at another level.  1. LeBron James SF Los Angeles Lakers  2017-2018 Stats: 27.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 9.1 apg   The king lived up to his name this season as he carried the Cavs to a 4th straight finals appearance. He played in all 82 games (first time in his career) and endured a trade, so he's still #1. 2. Kevin Durant SF Golden State Warriors 2017-2018 Stats:  26.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.4 apg  The now 2-time NBA champion and Finals MVP also put on a show this past season as he excelled on the defensive side of the ball, something he isn't known for throughout his career.  3. Anthony Davis C New Orleans Pelicans 2017-2018 Stats: 28.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2.3 apg  This young stud is only getting better with ...
