Why it's time for the Colts to move on from Andrew Luck

The Indianapolis Colts are at the crossroads concerning their future and Andrew Luck will be a part of the process that determines their success. Luck was the Colts first pick in 2012 and he's been a big part of their success since the departure of Peyton Manning that same year.

Indy however has failed to put the pieces around him like they did Manning, which is why I think it's time for them to package him up in a deal and start with a clean slate. I know that his contract extension he signed two years ago (6-years/$140 million, $87 million guaranteed) will be tough to unload, but there are teams with cap space and draft picks that would probably welcome Luck with open arms.

When Manning was in Indy he has the perfect line to protect him (Tarik Glenn, Jeff Saturday), Great receivers to get the ball downfield (Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark) and two Hall of Fame running backs (Marshall Faulk, Edgerrin James) that were very versatile. The Colts have not built anything similar to those offensive weapons of Manning, which makes you think will they depend on Luck alone or can they evaluate talent in the front office?

Whatever the case they have Luck is now 28, and he's wasting his prime with a mediocre team. The front office has been in shambles and they now have hired a third head coach since luck's arrival 6 years ago.

He carried them to an AFC title game after the 2012 season, but didn't have enough firepower to take down the Patriots in a 45-7 loss.

There are 5 legit quarterback prospects in this draft and they already have traded down which means that those prospects will pass them by unless one falls in the #7 slot. They need a lot of work at nearly every position and they are disassembling the team, so why not add Luck to the change? Luck's shoulder has been in question since he injured it in 2015, but played through it in 2016.

He missed last season and it has seemed that his health has been rocky since his offseason surgery and it's very unsure if he'll be the same.

One thing for sure is that the clock is ticking on getting value for him, but are the Colts putting their plans on the Andrew Luck of old or one that may never be the same? The front office may end up regretting this one down the road.
