The New York Jets moved up the third spot in the draft and it has some wondering which direction will they go? Quarterback, Running Back, Defensive End, or Offensive Line? One thing for sure is that they will come out of this thing with a sure hit or an epic fail. They traded the #6 pick and 3 second round picks (2 in 2018,1 in 2019), so someone's job may be on the line.
The Jets have been mediocre at the quarterback position for far too long, and this could be the draft that ends the era of futility for them. Josh Allen has the strong arm and size, Sam Darnold has the will to win, Sam Rosen has the arm strength and accuracy, last but not least Baker Mayfield could be all of them wrapped up in one (minus the size of course). What ever route they take it could be a win, win situation. If I'm putting money on it, I'm taking Mayfield because of his playmaking ability alone. He can get the ball downfield in many fascinating ways.
Another route they could go is Saquon Barkley if he's still available, this kid could help their offense tremendously will his speed and play making ability out of the backfield. He's a hard nosed runner and gifted receiver that could help out whomever is under center. He would surely have to be a sure hit, they traded up so they don't have a shot at second tier QB's.
Muhammad Wilkerson is now with the Packers and they have to find his replacement very soon. Defensive end can be a hard find for any team, but Bradley Chubb could come in right away and contribute on that line. They have also lost Sheldon Richardson (Vikings) , so they have a big need there as well. If he comes in under Bowles, who's a defensive minded guy, it could get Chubb's career started on the right path.
Quenton Nelson is a sure shot, plug & play type player that could spend his entire career with one team. He's aggressive with his run blocking skills and his pass blocking was at the top of the class for his position. Brian Winters is a free agent and they have very little push without a solid guard on that line. Just don't be surprised if his name is called on day one of draft night.
Those are my top picks at the #3 spot that could help the Jets right away, but think about this, they could trade back because a couple of teams have two first round picks and it could bring them two top tier talents instead of one. It's just a thought, but keep you eyes open.
