The Good, Bad and the Ugly if the Falcons landed Odell Beckham Jr.

The Ringer.com posted their article "What's your best trade offer for Odell Beckham Jr.?". Low and behold they choose the Atlanta Falcons as a destination for the Giants to send their star receiver.
The Atlanta Falcons have not made a ton of moves in free agency, they have however made some moves to solidify key positions. It is also clear that GM Thomas Dimitroff will be adding talent via the 2018 draft.

Here are my reasons why OBJ would The Good, The Bad and the Ugly if the Atlanta Falcons franchise were to make the move:

The Good:

Playmaker: Beckham is a top 5 NFL receiver with extraordinary talent that would give Matt Ryan another elite target. It would be hard for any defense to focus on two top 5 receivers, which could be a nightmare for a defensive coordinator.

Special teams:
Beckham played special teams his first couple of seasons in the league, so having an explosive player such as himself returning kicks and punts would set the team up with great field position on more possessions. It would definitely be key in games that are defensive struggles and playing from behind.

Main Attraction:
Atlanta would instantly light up the NFL as one of the highest marketing teams and ticket prices could go through the roof. When you have a marketing attraction such as Beckham, it opens doors for more top-notch events.

The Bad:

Bad PR attention:

Odell Beckham has been known to be a diva at times and the way Dan Quinn runs a tight nit, discipline-oriented regime, it will definitely not fly in Atlanta. If he can turn his antics into energy for his teammates, he may fit right in.

Contract extension:
The Falcons are still trying to negotiate a deal with their veteran QB Matt Ryan, so we know they won't have the wiggle room to land another mega deal. However if they can rid themselves of one of the big deals their cornerback duo signed via trade, it would be the only way he could sign a long-term deal. This would be the main reason this would be a real long-shot. Also, New York may have to do a sign and trade to get a deal done, which means Atlanta would have to have cap space available from the start. You could see a 3rd team enter the deal if they can't come up with the proper compensation.

The Ugly:

Trade Compensation:

The Giants want two first-round picks for OBJ, which may be too rich for Atlanta's liking. If the Falcons can include maybe a player of the Giants would be interested in and include maybe a 1st and 3rd. This would be a tough task no matter what deal they put together because the Giants are in rebuild mode.

Atlanta would benefit from an addition like Beckham but there may be too many roadblocks to getting a deal done. The Giants may lighten their asking price and the Falcons should keep an eye on it.

The Falcons drafting a running back could be a smart move

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in running back prospects to interview and work out for the upcoming NFL draft starting with Georgia running back Nick Chubb. It's something I definitely agree  with as a fan and an analyst.

What will the Atlanta Falcons do at #26?

The Atlanta Falcons are two years post-Super Bowl appearance and they still have a nice window to return there. They have some holes to fill on both sides of the ball, whether it's to find a starter or to add depth at key positions. I think they could use the #26 pick in the first round of the draft to add depth at defensive tackle, right guard, tight end or free safety. Grady Jarrett needs a big body on the other side of him, with Dontari Poe hitting free agency Atlanta has to get a space eater/gap filler that helps in the run game. Austin Hooper has been a good addition to the Falcons offense, but still needs to grow and Atlanta needs reliable hands in the red zone. Wes Schweitzer has not been consistent and has seen some bad snaps that could land him as a role player. This could be the position the Falcons could use the 26th pick but that still remains to be seen. The Falcons need depth at the safety with the team releasing Ishmael and R...

Smitty's Top 10 NBA players heading into the 2018-2019 season

The NBA has some of the best athletes in sports but when it comes to playing basketball, some players stand out and know how to take their game to another level. Here are my top 10 players that can do just that, play at another level.  1. LeBron James SF Los Angeles Lakers  2017-2018 Stats: 27.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 9.1 apg   The king lived up to his name this season as he carried the Cavs to a 4th straight finals appearance. He played in all 82 games (first time in his career) and endured a trade, so he's still #1. 2. Kevin Durant SF Golden State Warriors 2017-2018 Stats:  26.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.4 apg  The now 2-time NBA champion and Finals MVP also put on a show this past season as he excelled on the defensive side of the ball, something he isn't known for throughout his career.  3. Anthony Davis C New Orleans Pelicans 2017-2018 Stats: 28.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2.3 apg  This young stud is only getting better with ...
