Number 9 is #1

Number 9 is #1

Congratulations to Drew Brees our new and active all-time leading passer. Who would have guessed that you would have accomplished this? True fans will admit that when we 1st saw you, we knew you had talent, but there was always “BUT”! When you got hurt, I was leery about your return to form. San Diego made a tough decision- one that  we all know worked in your favor; and I think sometimes (not every) that they scratch their heads (did we make the right decision).

Honestly when you got to New Orleans, I thought you’d phase out and just quietly leave the game. However, you turned things around. The previous season was 3-13 and I admit it was difficult for the city and the team due to hurricane Katrina. In the 06 season, it seemed every time I turned around there you were just destroying defenses. You went 10-6 that year and the 1st of 12 straight 4,000 yard passing seasons.

Peyton Manning has thrown for 4,000+ yards 14 times, however your 12 are consecutive: which is a record that I don’t see being broken anytime soon. You were the 1st to break Dan Marino’s record in 2011 with 5,476 yards [honestly you demolished it]. (I was rooting for you in 08 [you fell short 16yds short of the record]). To top it off, you not only threw for 5,000+ yards the following season, but the 3rd season as well and nearly made it 4 straight (48 yards short in 2014).

The quiet gunslinger isn’t done. 5 seasons with 5,000 plus yards, and guess how many people have 2? Yep you guessed it, a whopping none!!!!  Only Marino (previous Record holder), Brady, Stafford, and Manning (current record holder [beating Brees by only 1 yard]) have thrown for this mark “ONCE”.
All the marks and things you’ve have been done silently (not for me). A lot of times people talk and they seem to forget how good you are. They have amnesia when realizing how you can compete and beat opposing QB’s..

Brady Brady Brady… For you Brady fans, wrong post. It’s all about Brees and understand fans that Brady will never catch this man. Remember majority of the records Brady or any other QB touches came from Brees being the first.

You’ve won a Super Bowl and accomplished numerous NFL and team records. At the age of 39 when a lot of players are passed their prime or mark, you proved father time not to be a factor in your life. You have set another record of highest completion percentage in a season a record previously held by ------ Drew Brees!!

The Falcons drafting a running back could be a smart move

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in running back prospects to interview and work out for the upcoming NFL draft starting with Georgia running back Nick Chubb. It's something I definitely agree  with as a fan and an analyst.

Smitty's Top 10 NBA players heading into the 2018-2019 season

The NBA has some of the best athletes in sports but when it comes to playing basketball, some players stand out and know how to take their game to another level. Here are my top 10 players that can do just that, play at another level.  1. LeBron James SF Los Angeles Lakers  2017-2018 Stats: 27.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 9.1 apg   The king lived up to his name this season as he carried the Cavs to a 4th straight finals appearance. He played in all 82 games (first time in his career) and endured a trade, so he's still #1. 2. Kevin Durant SF Golden State Warriors 2017-2018 Stats:  26.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.4 apg  The now 2-time NBA champion and Finals MVP also put on a show this past season as he excelled on the defensive side of the ball, something he isn't known for throughout his career.  3. Anthony Davis C New Orleans Pelicans 2017-2018 Stats: 28.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2.3 apg  This young stud is only getting better with time, he lost his running
