Why the Atlanta Hawks should go after Jaylen Brown this offseason

The Atlanta Hawks just signed their new head coach Lloyd Pierce to a three year deal, which means it's a new era in Hotlanta.

Atlanta has some nice young pieces on their roster, but since they are rebuilding why not try to keep adding youth by going after Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown. I know you probably think this is impossible but hear me out first.

The Celtics are loaded at the small forward position. When Gordon Hayward comes back from injury and Jason Tatum making a name for himself in the 2018 playoffs, it'll be hard for him to get the playing time he deserves.

Brown can play three positions on the floor (PG, SG and SF) which means his versatility could be a huge bonus for the Hawks. They could use him in any lineup like small ball or if they wanted to play him with Teurean Prince and John Collins in the same lineup.

Boston may go after a Kawhi Leonard trade this offseason, which could spell the end of Brown or Kyrie (Calm down just a thought) in Celtics green. The Hawks have 3 first round picks this year (top 5, 19th and 30th) so if they miss out on the top 3 in Ayton, Bagley or Doncic you could see them trading the pick to get a veteran or acquire more future picks.

Brown averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds as he saw his role increased because of Gordon's injury, so his durability will not be an issue.

The Hawks would likely have to give up the following to gain the Celtics interest:

Celtics get:

19th pick
2019 1st round pick

Hawks get:

Jaylen Brown

It may seem like a lot but it would be the same as the Hawks picking a top player because Brown is only 21 years old.

He could be a game changer for Atlanta and a key piece for the proper rebuild they are putting together under Travis Schlenk.

Smitty's Top 10 NBA players heading into the 2018-2019 season

The NBA has some of the best athletes in sports but when it comes to playing basketball, some players stand out and know how to take their game to another level. Here are my top 10 players that can do just that, play at another level.  1. LeBron James SF Los Angeles Lakers  2017-2018 Stats: 27.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 9.1 apg   The king lived up to his name this season as he carried the Cavs to a 4th straight finals appearance. He played in all 82 games (first time in his career) and endured a trade, so he's still #1. 2. Kevin Durant SF Golden State Warriors 2017-2018 Stats:  26.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.4 apg  The now 2-time NBA champion and Finals MVP also put on a show this past season as he excelled on the defensive side of the ball, something he isn't known for throughout his career.  3. Anthony Davis C New Orleans Pelicans 2017-2018 Stats: 28.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2.3 apg  This young stud is only getting better with time, he lost his running

The Falcons drafting a running back could be a smart move

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in running back prospects to interview and work out for the upcoming NFL draft starting with Georgia running back Nick Chubb. It's something I definitely agree  with as a fan and an analyst.
