Why D.J. Moore could be a perfect fit with the Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons are almost on the clock at #26 with a little under 2 weeks left until the draft and receiver is a position worth taking a look to replace weapons they lost via free agency. A receiver whose got the ability to fit more that one need is D.J. Moore.

Moore is a 6'0 playmaker that can be a real threat with Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu lined up on the outside. His 4.4 speed could help him with screen throws, quick outs and in the vertical passing game. His solid 210 frame could help with his release on the line and it could be a problem for defenders trying to jam him at the line of scrimmage.

He was a force at Maryland his senior year with 80 receptions for 1,033 yards and 8 scores on a team that primarily ran the football. He was used on special teams as a returner, which could help the Falcons who have to replace Andre Roberts their primary returner. He could also be the speedster Atlanta lost in Taylor Gabriel, which could be the most important need of the teams offense. Moore is also said to have the best hands in the draft which could give an edge competing for the #3 receiver spot over Justin Hardy.

However like any other prospect he has his weaknesses. Moore had problems with the football getting close to his body while trying to make catches. He is not a receiver that can high point the ball well, but it could be a quick fix that could maximize his potential at the next level. It's a must that he learns to make contested catches on the next level because NFL defensive are much more aggressive.

The Falcons definitely need another playmaker at receiver to open up their offense, score points and contend with a more aggressive NFC South, which has retooled this offseason.

The Falcons drafting a running back could be a smart move

The Atlanta Falcons are bringing in running back prospects to interview and work out for the upcoming NFL draft starting with Georgia running back Nick Chubb. It's something I definitely agree  with as a fan and an analyst.

What will the Atlanta Falcons do at #26?

The Atlanta Falcons are two years post-Super Bowl appearance and they still have a nice window to return there. They have some holes to fill on both sides of the ball, whether it's to find a starter or to add depth at key positions. I think they could use the #26 pick in the first round of the draft to add depth at defensive tackle, right guard, tight end or free safety. Grady Jarrett needs a big body on the other side of him, with Dontari Poe hitting free agency Atlanta has to get a space eater/gap filler that helps in the run game. Austin Hooper has been a good addition to the Falcons offense, but still needs to grow and Atlanta needs reliable hands in the red zone. Wes Schweitzer has not been consistent and has seen some bad snaps that could land him as a role player. This could be the position the Falcons could use the 26th pick but that still remains to be seen. The Falcons need depth at the safety with the team releasing Ishmael and R...

Smitty's Top 10 NBA players heading into the 2018-2019 season

The NBA has some of the best athletes in sports but when it comes to playing basketball, some players stand out and know how to take their game to another level. Here are my top 10 players that can do just that, play at another level.  1. LeBron James SF Los Angeles Lakers  2017-2018 Stats: 27.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 9.1 apg   The king lived up to his name this season as he carried the Cavs to a 4th straight finals appearance. He played in all 82 games (first time in his career) and endured a trade, so he's still #1. 2. Kevin Durant SF Golden State Warriors 2017-2018 Stats:  26.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.4 apg  The now 2-time NBA champion and Finals MVP also put on a show this past season as he excelled on the defensive side of the ball, something he isn't known for throughout his career.  3. Anthony Davis C New Orleans Pelicans 2017-2018 Stats: 28.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2.3 apg  This young stud is only getting better with ...
